Please note that all shipments are under DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. Under DAP Incoterms, import duties, taxes, and customs clearance at the destination are the responsibility of the buyer.
If your shipment is international, for example, to the United States, you will need to closely monitor the shipment tracking. Once the shipment reaches its overseas destination, customs may temporarily hold it until any required import duties are paid. This process can typically be completed online via the DHL website. The tracking page will indicate when fees are due and provide an option to pay online. If these fees remain unpaid, your shipment may experience significant delays, or in the worst case, it could be returned to BaxEDM. If this occurs, additional return shipping costs will be charged by BaxEDM.
In addition to import taxes, customs authorities often require a unique ID# to identify the receiver. While this number is generally already included on the invoice accompanying the shipment, customs may still hold the package and request it. Any such request will be indicated on the tracking page, so it is important to respond promptly to avoid potential returns.
For more information about ID# requirements, please see Why is my ID number required for shipping?.
The key takeaway is to regularly check the tracking page. Because this is an international shipment going through customs, you cannot simply wait for the package to arrive without checking for any necessary actions.
